In 1963, three colleges were amalgamated to form the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and a fourth was added in 1986. The 134-acre campus includes 110 state-of-the-art buildings and has a total student population of roughly 15,000 and a faculty population of about 5,000. Since 1977, the Office of Academic Links (OAL) has been administering the International Asian Studies Program (IASP) which helps foster understanding of Hong Kong culture. Exchange students will be associated with the International Asian Studies Program (IASP).
Location
CUHK is situated above Tolo Harbour, just north of Sha Tin. Hong Kong is a bustling series of islands with a major emphasis on commerce, tourism and culture. With mainland China just a short skip away, there are boundless opportunities for adventure, tourist attractions and further travel.

Academic Information
Areas of concentration include: China Business, Finance and Marketing. Attendance is required.
The teaching methods include lectures, discussions, case analyses, seminars, gaming models and directed research. Plant tours, surveys and field work are also done by students, and local businessmen are invited to give guest lectures or lead in class discussions.
Credit Equivalency
12 CUHK units = 12 SSB credits
15 CUHK units = 15 SSB credits
Size of Classes/Features
The class size is between 15 and 60 students.
Language
English is the language of instruction except for some elective courses where teaching in Chinese is more appropriate.
Intensive Chinese Language courses are available for exchange students at an additional fee.
Computer Facilities
There is access to computer facilities at the University's Computer Centre and also the Business Administration Faculty's computer laboratory.
Accommodation
All exchange students can apply for housing in one of the 6 postgraduate halls.
Health Insurance
All exchange students and IASP students are required to purchase a Hospital and Surgical Expenses Insurance through the University. Students will be automatically enrolled in the plan and will be issued with an invoice prior to their arrival in Hong Kong. It is recommended that students obtain additional health insurance to cover all other medical expenses not covered such as accident and sickness, evacuation/ rescuers expenses and repatriation.
Visa
All exchange students MUST apply for a Hong Kong Student visa (not a China Visa) before arriving in Kong Kong. Applications should be sent to the Hong Kong Immigration Office via the International Asian Studies Program (IASP) office of the CUHK.
