Guanghua School of Management, Peking University – Beijing, China

Guanghua School of Management of Peking University is one of the best business schools in China. The School, initially named Peking University Business School, was formed in December 1993 with the combination of the then Department of Economic Management, School of Economics, and the Centre of Management Science--both of which were established in 1985 by Peking University. In 1994, the School adopted its current name upon the generous donation of ten million US dollars by the Guanghua Education Foundation (Hong Kong). The Mission of the School is to create cutting-edge knowledge and provide the highest quality education in business and economics to develop leaders who can make a difference to China and the rest of the world.

Location

The campus, known as "Yan Yuan"-- the gardens of Yan, is situated at the northeast section of the Haidian District in the western suburbs of Beijing. It stands near the Yuan Ming Gardens and the Summer Palace.

Size of Classes/Features
Classroom activities are interactive and students must confront real-world business plans and marketing projects. Professors encourage dynamic class discussions to develop a true learning partnership with the students. Global applications of management concepts are emphasized with specific examples relating to Asia and particularly China. Advanced analytical models are used to heighten students’ abilities to become expert decision-makers.

Language
The languages of instruction are English and Chinese. Guanghua School of Management is training the leaders of Chinese business and caters to English-speaking students. Chinese language courses are offered for credits and students do not need to pay for it.

Computer Facilities
There are modern computer laboratories and language audiovisual laboratories. Peking University boasts the largest library in Asia.

Type/Availability of Accommodation
International students may live on campus in Shao Yuan dormitory. The standard dormitory rooms for international students are equipped with TV, telephone, internet access, a desk, a chair, a closet, and an electric fan. Two students will share a room, and students will share a communal bathroom and showers on each floor. Accommodation at this standard dorm room costs US $3.50 per person per day.

If you wish to live in other types of accommodations, you may send a special request for alternative housing at the time of new student registration, but PKU cannot guarantee the availability of other housing arrangements.

Health Insurance
All students are required to obtain health insurance for the duration of study. The insurance must cover accidents and hospitalization. Students can either buy the insurance from home or when they arrive in China. Students who do not have medical insurance will not be able to register.

Visa
Once your exchange application is approved at Peking, you will receive an official acceptance letter that you will use to apply for a visa. The Municipal Foreign Affairs Office will process the visa documentation for incoming exchange students. Contact information is as follows:
