
European Business School (EBS) – Germany
The European Business School of the International University Schloss Reichartshausen (EBS) was founded in 1971 and is the oldest private university business school in Germany. The School offers a unique mix of business theory and management practice. EBS is a business school with a strong international and innovative focus, which aims to build strong business leaders of tomorrow. The school also hosts various personal developmental programs tailored to each student’s need to foster both professional and personal growth.
Location
EBS is located in the heart of the Rhine-Main-Region – and in geographical terms – at the center of Europe. The school is situated among the vineyards of Rheingau; the romantic valley of the river Rhine, which is recognized a world heritage site because of its medieval castles, monasteries, and beautiful landscape.
The Rhine-Main-Region is also a center of economic development with more than 4.7 million people, 320,000 companies, high-tech plants, and sales service enterprises. EBS is within easy reach of Frankfurt, which is the financial metropolis with more than 430 national and international financial institutions including the European Central Bank.
Approximate Term Dates
Fall (Fall Term): Mid-September to end of December
Winter (Spring Term): Early March to end of June
German Refresher Course: available beginning of September for Fall and mid-February in Spring for two weeks.
Academic Information
EBS stresses the importance of professor and student interaction. EBS’s preferred teaching methods are case studies, seminars, project teams, tutorials and lectures. The classes range from 15 – 50 students. Attendance and Participation is mandatory. Assessments are based on participation, written exams, and oral presentations.
Credit Equivalency
30 ECTS = 15 SSB credits
Language
Courses are taught in both German and English; however, the selection of English courses is limited. An intensive two week German refresher course is offered to students without charge.
Computer Facilities
Computer facilities on campus are open from 9:00am to midnight on weekdays, and 9:00am to 6:00pm on weekends. Students also have access to fax machines for additional fees at the front office in the school. EBS’ library on campus is open on weekdays and closed on weekends.
Type/Availability of Accommodation
There is no housing on campus; foreign students will be supported in finding a suitable place off campus upon arrival. There are various local advertisements on campus and in the press for rental apartments.
Health Insurance
Students must purchase health insurance prior to departure. Otherwise, they must purchase the AOK health plan in Germany after their arrival.
