Guanghua School of Management, Peking University – Beijing, China

Guanghua School of Management of Peking University is one of the best business schools in China. The School, initially named Peking University Business School, was formed in December 1993 with the combination of the then Department of Economic Management, School of Economics, and the Centre of Management Science--both of which were established in 1985 by Peking University. In 1994, the School adopted its current name upon the generous donation of ten million US dollars by the Guanghua Education Foundation (Hong Kong).

Location
By being in China’s capital the university has strong connections with China’s political leaders and the captains of Chinese industry.

Academic Information
The School has six academic departments: Department of Applied Economics, Department of Organization and Strategic Management, Department of Finance, Department of Accounting, Department of Marketing, and Department of Management Science and Management Information Systems. Areas of concentration are National Economic Management, Industrial Organization, Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Marketing, Management Information System, General Management, Human Resources Management, and Management Science.

Credit Equivalency
Each Peking course is 2–3 credits.
A 2-credit course is 10 weeks long + exams
A 3-credit course is 15 weeks long + exams

8-11 Peking credits = 12 SSB credits
12-15 Peking credits = 15 SSB credits

Size of Classes/Features
Overseas students make up 10% of the student population with another 10% coming from International companies. Just over 50% of the student population is from government and state owned companies.

Language
The languages of instruction are English and Chinese. Guanghua School of Management is training the leaders of Chinese business and caters to English-speaking students.

Computer Facilities
There are modern computer laboratories and language audiovisual laboratories. Peking University, which is located west of Guanghua School of Management, boasts the largest library in Asia.

Type/Availability of Accommodation

Health Insurance
All students are required to obtain health insurance for the duration of study. The insurance must cover accidents and hospitalization. Students can either buy the insurance from home or when they arrive in China.

Visa
Once your exchange application is approved at GSM, you will receive an official acceptance letter that you will use to apply for a visa. The Municipal Foreign Affairs Office will process the visa documentation for incoming exchange students. Contact information is as follows:
