
Chinese University of Hong Kong – CUHK, Hong Kong (China)
In 1963, three colleges were amalgamated to form the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and a fourth was added in 1986. The 134-acre campus includes 110 state-of-the-art buildings and has a total student population of roughly 15,000 and a faculty population of about 5,000. Since 1977, the Office of Academic Links (OAL) has been administering the International Asian Studies Programme (IASP) which helps foster understanding of Hong Kong culture. Exchange students will be associated with the International Asian Studies Programme (IASP).
The Faculty of Business Administration includes the following disciplines: Accountancy, Decision Sciences and Managerial Economics, Finance, Hotel and Tourism Management, Management and Marketing. Like the Schulich School of Business, it prides itself on being focussed on internationalization.
Location
CUHK is situated above Tolo Harbour, just north of Sha Tin. Hong Kong is a bustling series of islands with a major emphasis on commerce, tourism and culture. With mainland China just a short skip away, there are boundless opportunities for adventure, tourist attractions and further travel.

Academic Information
The preferred teaching methods at CUHK are lectures and tutorials. Students are encouraged to take courses from the International Asian Studies Program (IASP) which consists of language courses and courses taught in English.
Credit Equivalency
15 CUHK units = 15 SSB credits
*1 unit = 1 hour per week
Courses are normally 3 units each.
Language
CUHK offers more than 50% of their courses in English. The remaining courses are taught in Cantonese.
Facilities
CUHK’s Computer Laboratory Complex is equipped with over 250 computers, computerized classrooms, plus a finance and behavioural laboratory. The Web-based Course Tool (WebCT), acting much like Schulich’s system, allows for online classroom education. All the University’s hostels are connected to the computer network.
Accommodation
All exchange students are guaranteed on-campus housing. Living off-campus is very expensive. International students share double or triple occupancy rooms with local students interested in living with incoming exchange students.
Health Insurance
All exchange students and IASP students are required to purchase a Hospital and Surgical Expenses Insurance through the University. Students will be automatically enrolled in the plan and will be issued with an invoice prior to their arrival in Hong Kong.
