Accommodations
All Uruguayan universities are non-residential, therefore students must look for their own accommodations. There are three popular mechanisms for foreign students: student residences, apartment rental, or host families.
Student residences are private establishments, managed by their owners or by non-profit organizations. Most of the residences are planned for Uruguayan students whose families are outside Montevideo, although many also receive foreign students. Most residences are in the downtown and Cordon neighbourhoods. Students choosing a residence can make reservations through the ORT International Office at least 60 days before their arrival, and confirm their choice once they have arrived.
Renting an apartment is the most convenient, but requires a longer search period and may be more expensive. Most apartments are also unfurnished.
Students who wish to live with a Uruguayan family must contact the ORT International Office several months before their arrival. Students may choose to stay at a hotel , while they search for alternatives. ORT has agreements for special fare with a number of hotels. Reservations must be made through their office.
Facilities
ORT has a number of computer labs. In the main buildings, there are “cybercafes”.
