Nanyang Business School, Nanyang Technological University - Singapore


The Nanyang Business School is a relatively young, fresh, modern University originally built from plans produced by the famous architect Kenzo Tange in 1986. Nanyang teaches its participants a focused understanding of business, social and global environments coupled with a strong integration of skills, knowledge and professional competence. A team approach to learning is encouraged to enhance each participant's cognitive, problem-solving and communication skills. Nanyang’s program puts emphasis an industry orientation with ample opportunities for interacting and networking with entrepreneurs, professionals and business leaders both in and out of the classroom.

Location
Presently, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, has a campus in Jurong and an Executive Centre on Orchard Road. The 400+ acre Yunnan Garden Campus is located some 25 km from the city-center in the south-western part of the country. The lushly landscaped, high-tech environment provides staff and students with an inspiring environment for learning and research. The surrounding area of Jurong also boasts some of Singapore’s most beautiful rainforests and is home to the world-renowned Jurong Bird Park. The Jurong Point Shopping Centre is a different attraction sure to cater to every taste considering its 7 levels of 408,000 square feet are home to more than 200 specialty shops and eateries.

Academic Information
Teaching methods include a combination of lectures, class discussion, group work and individual study. There is a great deal of emphasis on teamwork and teambuilding. Case analysis is often undertaken in groups. In many courses, there are opportunities for group projects and presentations.

Areas of concentration include: Accounting, Banking & Finance, Human Capital Management, Information Technology, International Business, Marketing, Strategic Management and Technology & Operations Management.

Students take a maximum of 4 courses
4 NBS courses = 12 SSB credits

Class Sizes/ Features
There are approximately 2,600 MBA students at NBS. Most students are in their 30s.

Language
All courses are taught in English.

Computer Facilities
NTU is one of the first universities in Asia to offer a fully integrated high-speed campus wide wireless computer network system.
The Jurong campus also boasts a high-performance, campus-wide computer network, NTUnet, which links together all the computing systems within the grounds. This provides users with easy access to abundant computing resources from wherever they may be on campus. Over 14,000 networked PCs and workstations are available on the NTUnet, which is connected via high-speed links to both overseas Internet resources and the local broadband SingaporeOne network.

Type/Availability of Accommodation
The Jurong campus has 15 Halls of Residence providing accommodation for more than 8,500 students. On-campus housing is guaranteed.

Health Insurance
It is compulsory for exchange students to subscribe to the Group Hospital and Surgical Insurance (GHSI) Scheme arranged by the University. Those who do not wish to join the scheme must produce documentation during registration to show that they are holding similar medial insurance.
