The Escola de Administração de Empresas de São Paulo da Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV) is widely recognized as one of the best business programs in Latin America. FGV-EAESP vision of globalization has considerably changed. Today, it is not only concerned with being the best local school of Business Administration, but also, envisioning itself as a global player. As a result, FGV-EAESP has committed itself to prepare business leaders to respond to the changing demands of the global arena and to be a center of excellence in Management and Economics studies.

Location
São Paulo is the largest city in Brazil and South America, and the third largest city in the world. It also is a major South American industrial centre and one of the fastest growing cities in the world. Its museums are among the finest in South America. Its surrounding coastline is graced with many lovely beaches, and its entertainment and nightlife have for years attracted some of the best performers in the world.

Academic Information
The teaching methods at FGV are normally lectures and seminars. Case method is often used and class participation is usually a component of the grading system. Classes are between 30 and 50 students.

Fall (Fall Semester) – Early August to Early December
Winter (Spring Semester) – Early February to mid-June

Credit Equivalency
4 FGV courses = 15 SSB credits

Language
Portuguese and English

Note – FGV intends to increase the number of courses taught in English. Students that are fluent in Spanish should not have difficulties learning Portuguese.

Computer Facilities
All students are provided with personal email accounts. The computer labs are equipped with Microsoft Office, Netscape browsers and printers.

Type/Availability of Accommodation
Exchange students can choose to live in apartment flats nearby FGV. The apartment flats are fully furnished with cable TV and one bedroom, which accommodate 2 people. Housekeeping and 24-hour security services are provided. Other services that the flats offer are laundry services, covered parking, room service, pool, sauna, bar, and a coffee shop. Stores such as pharmacies and barbershops are located nearby. The flats are located within five minutes of Paulista Avenue, and a 10-minute walk to the School. The application for the apartment flats is mailed to students with the registration information.

Living with Brazilians is another alternative that provides an excellent opportunity for intense language and cultural exchange. For those wanting to live with Brazilian students, many options are available, ranging from students living by themselves or with a host family. The International Exchange Office can help students find suitable accommodations. Renting your own apartment in São Paulo is feasible, but presents some difficulties related to documentation and deposits to be paid.

Health Insurance
Medical Assistance is provided free of charge to all exchange students during the academic term. There is also a clinic and doctor at FGV.

Visa
