Rouen School of Management – ESCR, France
Created in 1871, the Rouen School of Management is the second oldest school of management in France. From the beginning, the aim of the Rouen School of Management has been to train managers and leaders of business capable of winning international markets. The School, with more than 8,000 alumni, has become an important focus of attention for education and research in management.
Location
Rouen, located in the northern part of France, in Normandy, is only a one hour train ride from Paris. It is a city of art and history as well as an important economical metropolis with a port and a very active commercial centre. The school is on top of the Mont-Saint-Aignan hill next to the University campus (which has some 20,000 students in Law, Economics, Arts and Sciences). Thus, its students can benefit from facilities such as halls of residence and student restaurants.
Academic Information
The basic philosophy behind the structure of classes at the Rouen School of Management is that teaching should be carried out in small groups. This means that, except in a very few cases, the maximum class size is 35 students. Students are expected to participate actively at all times and are required to read and assimilate information given in the large numbers of documents prepared by lecturers. Classes are very practical in nature and emphasis is placed on exercises, case studies and field projects.
There are 2 main programs that Schulich students may follow at ESC-Rouen.
ESC Rouen Grande Ecole Programme (ESC): (Recommended)
The ESC Programme offers an increasing number of Grande Ecole Core Courses in French and English. It begins with the French Language Intensive course which is followed by the International Program over a three-month period, including 3 core curriculum courses in French and a choice of electives in French or English.
Institut de Formation Internationale (IFI) :
IFI is structured similar to the North American University education model in that it is a 4-year undergraduate degree. It has two specializations: International Management and International Marketing.

Computer facilities
The campus offers a library and multimedia centre, ten computer labs, intranet pedagogy, a trading room, four student cafeterias, as well as a variety of sports facilities.
Type/Availability of Accommodation
There are several types of student accommodation available. ESC-Rouen's International Office can book accommodation for students, but cannot guarantee availability. Below are the different types of student accommodation:
On campus: Room (9m2) or studio (around 18 m2)
Off-campus: studio (around 20m2) or F1 (around 25m2).
Homestay: A great opportunity to share the daily life of a real family. A good way to improve your French level and to discover the French culture.
An alternative to student accommodation is to find an apartment in Rouen, the cost of which varies from €300 upwards (although those who share will obviously find one more cheaply). Students wishing to rent an apartment, however, are responsible for finding it themselves, although the International Office can help them in their search. In that case, students should arrive early.
Health Insurance
Appropriate health insurance should be purchased to cover your stay in France, prior to departure.
